Theresa’s Punch Bowl Cake Recipe

Theresa’s Punch Bowl Cake Ingredients

  • 1 box Duncan Hines Yellow Cake Mix (or any vanilla sponge cake mix)
  • 1 large & 1 small container of whipped cream
  • 2 large cans of crushed pineapple (drained)
  • 2 large boxes of vanilla instant pudding
  • Pecans (pieces)
  • 2 punnets of strawberries
  • 6 bananas

Directions

  • Bake your yellow cake mix as per directions on box
  • Drain each can of crushed pineapple separately and empty each can in two small bowls
  • Prepare each box of pudding as per package instructions, put each in a small bowl keeping them separate
  • Then place in the fridge to set and cool
  • Mash the first punnet of strawberries and add sugar to it and set aside
  • Repeat the same with the other punnet.
     
  • 1st layer - when yellow cake is baked and cooled, crumble 1/2 of it in the bottom of a pretty glass punch bowl
  • 2nd layer - pour 1 chilled bowl of pudding over cake
  • Then pour the first bowl of drained pineapple over the pudding
  • Drain off the juice from your first bowl of strawberries
  • Then add the strawberries over the top of your pudding
  • Slice some bananas and cover this then cover with the whipped cream
  • Top with a layer of crushed pecan pieces
  • Then start all over beginning with the rest of the cake and continue in this same order
  • When you have finished it will be really in pretty layers and you need to keep it in the fridge until ready to serve.
